Paul brings buckets of experience from top roles at HMRC, a large accountancy firm and award-winning payroll provider. With decades in the world of tax and payroll, he’s seen it all from every angle.

HMRC Tax Investigator
Paul spent 10 years working for the Inland Revenue as a Tax Inspector and Employer Compliance Manager.
His time on the ‘dark side’ is invaluable. He understands how HMRC works, and this knowledge is perfect for helping our clients navigate tricky compliance situations.
Snr Tax Investigation Manager for a large accountancy practice
Paul then spent the next 11 years at a regional accountancy practice. There, he provided tax advice services for their clients, including representing them in HMRC investigations.
Paul understands compliance challenges from the company’s perspective and the importance of having water-tight processes around tax and benefits.
Head of Compliance and Legislation at a Payroll Provider
It was a natural progression for Paul to move into a Compliance and Legislation role with a leading payroll provider. He made sure their payroll teams had the best training to deliver top-notch service.
After a short retirement, Paul is back and ready to help us at Ascend!
